you have to be careful though with the piece of tape, it lessen the contact surface for the glue. I had a bad luck with a 5 string bass neck with two truss rods, the fretboard came undone from the neck as I was hammering the frets in.
I glued it up generously and it's holding up so far, but I don't think I'll be putting a piece of tape permanently. Instead, i'll just put a piece of tape to apply the glue and remove the tape just before gluing everything together. That way there shouldn't be too much glue falling in the truss rod cavity

I work as a Graphic Designer, and I know how to use Adobe Illustrator, its a very useful tool to plan your work at scales 1:1, so among other stuff, it was very useful to draw the headstock and plan the machine heads locations.

It's time to glue the scale
I've bored two little holes on the first and twenty first fret slot where I've put two nails to help me glue
the scale on place avoiding the slippery of the scale during glue process.
I use a hand drill to get better control.




Then I've cut two notches to avoid the nails on a wooden cal to help glued the scale in place

Along the way of my building process I've saw lots of people using few clamps in the gluing process.
I think that more the better and do not be poor on the glue

Its time to cut the front and back headstock veneer

In a peace of leftover Poplar, from the Topset, I've cut two peaces with my Japanese "wonder" saw
it cuts like hell, and old it down on a Stanley vise that is very thought,
I've ended to buy another to do the shape of the neck



Then to get it on the desire thickness I've used my Dremel on a jig
This work nice




I've ended buying a diferent bit, the one that I have was to small

Meanwhile to get my job easier, I've build some jigs
This is a jig to sand the scale, I can control the radius by twisting the screws, and when I go to sand it, I put some
led weights in it, and I just push and pull it without pressing it down, using only the lead weight,
to void making mess, sanding more on one side than in another


This is a jig that I've built to routing the inlays down with my Dremel with a Proxxon flex shaft



I've put a led light on it to help me do a better job

This is when I've bought the other Stanley vise


Here I've clamped a aluminum rod to the bench and use it to support the neck for shaping

Now that I've shape the neck, I needed to bend the headstck back veneer to glue it down

With the help of a glue container that have the same radius I put my hands on doing it.

I've soaked the veneer in alcohol and let it rest for a wile



Then in a peace of aluminum I've cut the shape of the headstock and glued on it, some high density rubber foam
to use as a cal to help me glue it maintaining the shape



I've raped it all up with plastic film, to avoid glue mess

The secret to make it work fine, is to put the wright weight on it like I did, (some led weights) and just push and pull the cal without more force on it

Yes, its my first build, I'm not lying, I always like to play the guitar and because in school I learn mechanics, it was simple for me to work with tools, so from play to build one was a small step. I've planed and read a lot about the craft and I had a lot of doubts, but I made it :linux:

Usually when I imagine something in my mind, I can put it to work, some times I make several objects, decorative boxes, trophies, etc ... I've made guitar parts like tailpeaces, bridges, some inlays, to modify my other guitars,I'm used to work with wood so I have some perception how wood reacts
